Junior Yearly Meeting 2021
This event was attended by 13 young people aged 15 to 18 years olds, as a youth event, the event is planned and facilitated by a group of young people known as an Arrangements Committee, who work with a team of adults in the delivery of their plans. The Arrangements Committee in 2021 were appointed to plan JYM in 2020, which was cancelled due to Covid19. Of the group of 5 young people, two young people, Kit and Sasha agreed to continue their commitment. Which we are deeply grateful for.
The participants at this year's event considered the theme:
'For our comfort and discomfort: how can we use Quaker testimonies to live faithfully?' following the threads of anti-racism and climate justice.
This linked to the focus of Yearly Meeting.
JYM Epistle and minute.
Each participant contributed their experience of the event to form the JYM Epistle. This captures the 'sense of the meeting' the experience of the group expressed in the Epistle.
As a part of the event the group had a Quaker Meeting for Worship for Business, where they agreed a Minute which has been sent to the Yearly Meeting clerks.
