Quaker Society at Sussex

Hi! My name is Jason and I am a member of Brighton Quaker Meeting and Quaker Chaplain at the University of Sussex. I'm interested in hearing from young Friends, or those with a Quaker background, who might be interested in helping start a Quaker Society at Sussex. Anyone who is interested could get plenty of support from myself and the Chaplaincy.

If you would like to get in touch, even if just to explore the possibility, you can contact either by email (contact catw@quaker.org.uk) or in person (if you happen to be around), or else you might prefer to introduce yourself via the "University of Sussex Quakers" facebook group. My contact details can be found on the University of Sussex website under Chaplaincy, and most days you can find me in room 3 in the (confusingly named) Meeting House which is a big round building on campus made of concrete and distinctive coloured glass windows and a fluted roof.

I've been in this role since the beginning of the year and I would like to develop our Quaker presence at Sussex, and explore the synergy between the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove and the tranquil campus at Falmer in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Among the things I have been doing are supporting an activist group who collect and distribute food for rough sleepers (including organising a jazz band for a stall!), helping students deal with hardship through an emergency food project, and I've just started facilitating an Experiment with Light group for students and staff which is proving quite popular.

If any of this sounds interesting, please get in touch.

in friendship,
